Gina is my sister-in-law, and she’s pretty handy homecook. We often chat about recipes and our favourite cookbooks. Gina lives around the Haberfield area in Sydney, which has a very strong Italian community, so she knows her way around an Italian deli and bakery. If I need a canoli or tiramusu to impress, I ask Gina where she gets hers from. Gina and her husband Chris are also very good at hosting intimate lunches and dinner parties.
Gina spent her early childhood in Cyprus, and, like most good cooks, gets some of her best recipes from her mother. Gina likes using fresh ingredients in her cooking, particularly vegetables and herbs, and recently went to a slow cooking festival, which has inspired her to try new things. She describes her cooking style as “traditional”; I would describe it as Cypriot/Greek with some modern influences.
Away from her own kitchen, Gina loves Thai food.
